GHI Smart Furnaces proudly announces the inauguration of its new furnace assembly line based on Lean Manufacturing principles, which will enhance efficiency in manufacturing operations and provide greater added value to customers.
GHI began the Lean project in 2017 with the support of the production consultancy Asenta. After witnessing excellent results from implementing Lean principles in the electrical workshop for two years, the system was also applied to the mechanical workshop.
Lean Manufacturing is a methodology rooted in the Toyota production system. Its philosophy focuses on eliminating waste or activities that do not add value for the customer. This system achieves immediate improvements in productivity, competitiveness, and profitability without requiring investments in machinery, personnel, or technology.
By removing unnecessary waste from the process, GHI gains maximum benefit from resources, eliminates duplication, and clearly defines responsibilities. Implementing Lean Manufacturing in production processes enhances efficiency and delivers more valuable technological solutions to customers, who demand highly reliable and complex equipment in a competitive environment.
With the Lean Manufacturing methodology, GHI has managed to:
- Reduce the lead time of projects
- Improve efficiency in assembly hours
- Reduce logistic costs
- Improve supply chain indicators in terms of time, deadline, and quality
As a result, GHI increases reliability regarding delivery times.
This project’s success is attributed to clear and demanding objectives, a committed team, and strong leadership from management.
GHI extends gratitude to everyone who participated in this project and remains committed to continuous improvement in all processes.
